I know I usually start the dessert post saying it’s very easy to make but the truth is that they are. Most of the recipes that I share here in the blog, I did for the first time being a child. The first few times with Tata’s help, then under her supervision, and then all by myself. As I grew up I started surprising my friends with cakes, cookies, and puddings.
About a week ago I was arguing with myself wether to buy a pudding or making it myself. Then I remembered I hadn’t posted this recipe, so I decided not to buy and make it at home, this way I would refresh my memory and give you guys something delicious to taste this weekend.
Let’s get cooking!
- In medium double boiler, cook the sugar, cornstarch, milk and salt. When the mixture begins to thicken, add part of the mixture to the egg yolks. Mix well, then pour the egg mixture back into the mix in the double boiler and cook until thick.
- Remove from the stove and add the butter and vanilla
- For the caramel or pudding patty, use 3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar and 1/4 cup sugar instead of 3/4 cup sugar, then cook as directed.
And that’s it!
If you want, you can make any variation to the recipe, by adding bananas or add 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate.
You can cover with Cool Whip, meringue, chocolate, banana or strawberry.
