This recipe was one of the first cakes I learned to make. It’s quite simple and for those who have already baked a recipe, it will be very easy to follow the steps. It is a fluffy chocolate cake, which my husband calls the triple, because it has chocolate cake, chocolate filling and chocolate topping.
Let’s get cooking!
- Preheat oven to 350 ° F / 180 ° C. Dissolve the chocolate with the water in a water bath. Stir constantly over boiling water until chocolate is melted; Put it aside.
- Beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer for 2 minutes or until fluffy. At medium speed, add the eggs one at a time, beating 15 seconds after each addition. Add the chocolate mixture and beat 15 seconds more or until incorporated. Stop and scrape the bowl.
- Incorporate the previously sifted flour, baking soda and salt. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Slow down and mix until the mixture is homogeneous. Stop and scrape the bowl.
- Divide the dough into 2 9-inch / 23-cm cake molds, previously buttered and floured. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. Let the molds cool for 10 minutes, then remove the cakes and let them cool completely on a rack. Spread the middle layer and top with chocolate glaze.
