My husband just told me he invited some clients for dinner tonight! O-M-G! It’s 9 in the morning, why does he always do the same thing? Any housewife would just run to buy something already made, but my beloved husband always boasts of about my desserts. So unfortunately (NOT) I always have to make desserts from scratch.
When I see myself in these culinary emergencies, I have a secret that I will share with you today (rather confess): I cheat. Yes, you’re reading correctly, I cheat :p
The easiest dessert to do on a run is a Banana Cream Pie. You’ll need a pie crust (you can make it yourself, but when in a run I usually buy it), banana pudding, cool-whip, and well of course, bananas. It’s so incredibly easy!
Back at home, preheat the oven to 400ºC. Par bake crust for 10-15 minutes until golden and let cool. Slice 2 bananas and make a layer on the bottom of the crust.
Then, combine milk and pudding mix and whisk until thickened (about 2 minutes). Now, fold in ⅔ of whipped topping and transfer to the pie crust. Chill for at least an hour.
Now, slice the last banana and cover with the rest of the whipped toping. Finish up by garnishing with banana slices.
If you like to add a calorie supplement, you can sprinkle chocolate on top. It will give a touch of color and give it a homemade touch. Of course, it will also be delicious.
